Yes – in early contact with your guests, you will have to guess at what type of wine buyers they are, or at least the person(s) who is ordering for the table or the person(s) most interested in the wine menu.

Satisfied sippers
Image conscious
Explorers of wines
Engaged newcomers
Confused
You will have to make your best guess based on what you see and hear. The first few times you try this you may be wrong, but eventually, you will be able to pick up the signs and signals
Keep consciously making this guess and think of initial questions you can ask to give you the most information.
