These cleaners were tested on various fabrics and applied 2 minutes after the wine stain and 24 hours later. Silk was the hardest and cotton the easiest to clean. The most effective stain remover was an equal blend of hydrogen peroxide and Dawn® liquid soap. The next best was Erado-sol® (Stain Rx®), and it was the most effective on silk. Erado-sol® is a commercial cleaner that has been used in medical and industrial facilities for many years but now is available as a household stain remover as StainRx®.
