Wine sediment

Sediment in a guest’s wine glass

Most guests do not enjoy a mouthful of sand when they are drinking wine.

Thus too much sediment in a glass is a bad thing, while a little bit at the bottom of the glass is acceptable for most wine enthusiasts.

At this point with the wine already poured into the glass, the only way to remove sediment it is to pour the wine through a coffee filter (preferably an unbleached (brown) filter. While you may offer to do this, most guests will just carefully sip the wine avoiding the sediment but leave a small amount of wine and sediment in the bottom of the glass.

Your only other choice is to offer to replace the bottle of wine with a different brand of the same wine type that you know to be filtered wine and not have sediment.

Wine gravel – I see!
