Pairing Food with Wine
If a wine is selected before food selection, you want to recall the characteristics of the wine to determine which foods might pair well enough with it to enhance both the wine and the food. Try to answer these questions:
1. Does the wine taste acidic, tart, or sour? – Choose food with a slight vinegar, citrus, or a slightly acidic tomato-based flavor or sauce.
2. Does the wine taste fruity or slightly sweet? – Choose a food that has a fruity or slightly sweet taste.
3. Is the wine high in alcohol (14% or more)? – Choose a non-spicy/peppery food.
