Young wines may not need decanting

If you see that a bottle of wine is labeled as “unfiltered” it is considered a good practice to offer to decant the wine for that guest.


However, as a rule-of-thumb, wines less than 10 years old rarely need any decanting, but if the guest has brought or ordered a wine greater than 10 years old, you should always offer to decant the wine.
